Best Travel Blogs for Work From Anywhere Women

Blogs are awesome – they connect us with others who share our passions while giving us advice on conquering fears and achieving new goals (even if it’s pitiful attempt at a homemade nautical wreath that gives your fingers rug burn). Female solo travel and digital nomad blogs are starting to gain popularity, the travel blogs on the web have historically been dominated by sites with gender-neutral or a vacation-esque vibe. So when it comes to travel blogs for work from anywhere women, there are a few gems that really stand out.

Here are a few of my personal favorite travel blogs for work from anywhere ladies:

1) Nomadic Matt’s Travel Site

Matt is a pro at realistic travel, as well as a New York Times best-selling author. His blog is a fantastic, grown-up resource for researching backpacking and budget travel adventures. I’ve been a reader of his popular blog for a few years, but he’s been traveling and writing about it on his site since 2006. I especially love how he has some great tips of the financial side of travel, such as his post on how to properly pick a travel credit card.

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women –Matt’s done a great job with giving traveling women specialized information on his blog, which is awesome because we know it’s different for us. He’s also got a dedicated contributor named Kristin who absolutely rocks it at female travel tips.

2) Travel Life Experiences

Dorene & Troy are a married couple from Canada who quit their jobs to travel. Their story and their travel blog is soulful, full of heart, and incredibly informative. I was actually lucky enough to get to chat with Dorene about this in my post I Quit My Job To Travel. One of my favorite posts is something that should come up more often for female (and male) travelers which is this super enlightening post: Medical Treatment In Foreign Countries Doesn’t Have To Be Scary.

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women – Dorene & Troy advocate meaningful travel and it really hits home with me, and a lot of other girls I know who want to get a little bit more out of their traveling experience.

3) The Blonde Abroad

OK, so I’ve got a thing for pretty, clean travel blogs. And it’s really hard not to love this blogger. Kiersten’s travel blog, which is accompanied by her absolutely stunning photography, is one I could spend hours browsing. It’s fun, she’s quirky, and she’s got a forum on her site for fellow fans to ask location-specific questions. She’s got a fantastic way of incorporating style tips into traveling, too!

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women – Kiersten has a series of packing guides that I adore, as well as the glam Business Travel Gifts for The Girl Boss.

4) Adventurous Kate

Kate was 26 when she quit her job to go travel the world alone, so you know she’s a brave spirit. I know personally how financial reasons can be a huge barrier for travel, so what I really adore about Kate is that she took it upon herself to overcome that hurdle. She did this by starting her trip in Southeast Asia, which is one of the more affordable places to travel. Plus, who doesn’t adore someone that Jon Stewart himself has called babe?

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women – Kate’s completely upfront and I love that about her – she’ll tell you immediately in her about me section how she makes a full-time living operating her business on the road and more about how she saved up $13,000 in only 7 months to travel. She’s also got a great commentary about traveling solo, and what it means to look out for other solo travelers (even in a shipwreck).

5) Everywhereist

“Yes, it’s a travel blog. But at its core, it’s a love letter to my husband.” Is probably one of the most romantic reasons to start a blog that I’ve ever read about. I fell in love with this blog the moment I read the very true and also hysterical post “The Horror of Hotel Magnifying Mirrors”. Or was it when I read about how the blogger sent a picture of a topless Jeff Goldblum to a spammer. She’s wickedly funny, been through a lot, and this is my go-to travel site whenever I need a lift.

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women – Not all travel blogs are for solo female travelers (and you don’t have to be single to travel!) Geraldine has a great take on traveling as a couple, since she travels with her husband.

6) Alex in Wanderland

Hands down, this is one of the most beautifully designed blogs I have ever seen. Alex’s use of subtle teals and a punching yellow evoke thoughts of exotic, tropical places (go check it out for yourself, I’m serious!). She’s also got an ingenious interactive map on her site that shows where she’s been and takes you directly to related posts. Alex has come a long way from fear-crying the night before she left for her first blogging trip to Southeast Asia in 2009.

Why it’s a great travel blog for work from anywhere women – Alex’s blog has a fun an informative series called ‘Earning Abroad‘ where she introduces you to different working people (including female digital nomads) she’s met on the road.

There are a ton of blogs that I adore that I left off this list, but I wanted to get this post out there so I could share any tips of for fellow girl digital nomads who may be looking for the most helpful and absolutely best travel blogs for work from anywhere women. Yours not on the list or know of another great travel blog for working ladies? Leave a comment below with a link so my readers can find it!

Ready to get serious about your work from anywhere job search? I whole-heartedly recommend Flexjobs, the site where I found my first freelance writing gig. There are zero scams on their site and they have their own 100% remote team, too!
