How To Use Pinterest For Your Business

How To Use Pinterest For Your Business

Pinterest can be a ferociously powerful tool for your business or brand if you truly utilize it’s strengths and employ the right tactics. It’s the 2nd highest referring of website traffic after Facebook, but what’s more – a pin’s halflife is 1,600 times longer than a Facebook post (meaning it may be a more effortless way to generate traffic, especially if you use a pin scheduler).

Here’s some of the simple steps I took to grow my blog’s Pinterest followers, naturally and organically, to over 4k in several months and basic tips you can use with Pinterest for your business.

Have a theme:

If you’re using Pinterest for your business, I highly suggest updating each of your boards’ cover to a pin that sets a tone for your brand. Even having a theme that is a shared color makes your Pinterest look more appealing and professional. Some businesses create their own cover photos for each board on. Although I’m not against this and I think it looks fabulous, I choose to use a simple color scheme – teal (since it’s associated with my brand and website). You can see that I went through the images in each separate board and found an image with that color shade and selected this as my board’s cover. If I couldn’t find one, I search for a pin that I liked that was also teal and added it to the board to use as the cover.

Update your board descriptions:

Make sure each one of your boards (even if they are unrelated to your brand, like my bathroom board) has a description. This description should be colorful and creative, with no typos and good, clean copy. Put some creative effort into writing something fun about your board and why you love it! And don’t forget to make sure your board is assigned to a relevant category, so Pinterest knows where to put it in search results.

Set up Rich Pins:

This Pinterest tip is so important, and it still shocks me how many brands, bloggers and businesses skip this simple and powerful step. Open your Pinterest feed and look at how many pins have this versus don’t. You can tell right away how much more professional rich pins look. You’ll need to .

Use a social media manager scheduler

To truly take advantage of Pinterest, you want your pins to be pinning way more than you can do manually. Posting frequently is incredibly important and one of the biggest factors I had in my speedy Pinterest follower growth. 30 Pins per day are ideal, but they cannot be consecutive and must be spread out throughout the day. For this, I rely on Tailwind. It’s an incredibly resourceful tool for speedy Pinterest scheduling and includes some killer analytic tools for tracking your brand page as well. The best advice I could give you out of this entire post is to head over and check out the trial version of this incredible software.

Harness the Power of Group Boards:

Group boards are incredibly vital for viral traffic. Find other bloggers or small businesses in your niche and look at their boards. Group boards look like this:

Most group boards that are accepting new pinners will have instructions in the board description of how to join. The creator of the board is always the pinner to the far left, so are able to see who created the board and has the power to invite new pinners by checking in with the board creator.

There are tons of tips for using Pinterest for your business, but I wanted to do a rundown of the basics! Anything you all think I missed that work wonders for your brand?

Ready to get serious about your work from anywhere job search? I whole-heartedly recommend Flexjobs, the site where I found my first freelance writing gig. There are zero scams on their site and they have their own 100% remote team, too!
